You don't get to pick the subsurface environment that contamination has affected. We're here to help you select the most cost effective construction methods.
We work with specialty shoring engineers and subcontractors, your team, and regulators to design the most cost effective solution to your soil stability issues while removing contamination up to your property line.
In Western Canada, our groundwater is a plentiful and precious resource. It can also transport contamination offsite and cause our clients all manners of regulatory burdens.
Don't let groundwater wash away your project. We work with hydrogeologists, civil and geotechnical experts to manage your groundwater. Whether we are installing wellpoint systems, offsite migration prevention systems, or layering chemical oxidation material Nelson has you covered.
Our team works with one of our certified Storage Tank Removal Technicians to design a safe decomissioning plan for the legacy tanks on site. In conjunction with our Project Manager and Site Manager, we work with our client to determine if the convenience store, canopy or other infrastructure require salvage or demolition and plan those activities.
Once the plan is in place, permits have been drawn and work is approved to move forward, we work with our clients to manage the waste from the site in the most cost effective and environmentally responsible way feasible, clean and destroy the tanks in accordance with local regulations and our safety standards, and restore the site so that it is prepared for new construction. Our clients have the option to:

We frequently get asked by landowners some variation of the question “How much will it cost to restore this site so that I can build a(n) __________(Warehouse/Apartment Complex/Storefront/Etc)? Rather than answer that question directly, we go to the experts and help landowners find an environmental consultant who is qualified to seek a remedial certificate, so that the landowner has the best chance of succeeding in their property disposal, repurposing or acquistion.
Not every site is geotechnically stable. Sometimes you need to reach contamination to the edge of your property line. If a shoring wall, temporary shoring solution or slot cut is required Nelson is your partner. Contact us for examples of our past work or for a plan custom to your site.
Water challenges in construction are nothing new, so you should seek a contractor who is ready to respond to the issues that water intrusion can cause – especially when the risk of contamination exists. Our team will work with you to select the right mitigation strategy for your site. That might be as simple as having storage tanks ready with some inexpensive pumps and time allotted, or as complex as drilling multiple wellpoint systems with discrete batching for testing of collected water. With in-house solutions and a strong network of subcontracors for speciality solutions, Nelson is your partner for water management success.
If we’re digging it up, it has to go somewhere. We have a complete mapping of disposal facilities in Western Canada, a network of transportation options, and the experts you need to make your plan come to action.
