01

Site background and contamination

Wastewater biosolids can contain PFAS, pathogens, metals and microplastics. The pilot evaluates treatment and residual management for the actual municipal feed rather than assuming every constituent is destroyed.

Site
Municipal wastewater treatment biosolids, Ontario
Contaminants
PFAS, pathogens, metals and microplastics in biosolids

02

Nelson’s role and treatment selection

Nelson is the technology provider and trial operator for a major Canadian municipality. The high-temperature oxidative process is being tested for single-pass treatment and material recovery.

Nelson role
Technology provider and trial operator

03

Equipment, handling and logistics

The trial combines feed-specific thermal processing with continuous process monitoring. Carbon-residual recovery and reduced waste volume are trial objectives, not published performance results.

Equipment
High-temperature oxidative thermal treatment, single pass

04

Sampling, permits and verification

Pre- and post-treatment sampling and third-party analysis determine performance. PFAS destruction, pathogen elimination and volume reduction remain evaluation objectives until the analytical data is final.

05

Documented outcomes

Pilot quantity
60 tonnes
Result
Pending third-party analytical data

Remediation Strategy Navigator

Start from a site like this one

Run the same diagnostic our engineers ran here. Five questions on contaminant, matrix, site context, driver, and scale, and the Strategy Navigator shows which treatment path your conditions point toward.

· A shortlist of treatment paths ranked against your answers

· The reasoning behind every technology that surfaces

· A shareable link that reopens the same strategy

· A downloadable strategy brief at the end
