Onsite assembly progress, Vietnam dioxin remediation.

Equipment installation underway at the treatment pad.

01

Site background and contamination

Historic herbicide handling and storage left legacy dioxin residues in soil at a former US airbase that remains an active Vietnamese airbase.

Site
Former US airbase, currently an active Vietnamese airbase, Vietnam
Contaminants
Legacy dioxin residues from mid-century herbicide handling and storage

02

Nelson’s role and treatment selection

Nelson is delivering the engineered thermal treatment system under the prime contractor within a United States Department of State program. The plant combines direct and indirect thermal treatment approaches.

Nelson role
Design-build and execution of the engineered thermal treatment system

03

Equipment, handling and logistics

On-site works include reinforced concrete containment, the treatment pad, kiln placement and emissions-stack assembly. Major equipment has been mobilized internationally for installation in Vietnam.

Equipment
Purpose-built direct/indirect combination thermal treatment system

04

Sampling, permits and verification

The stated soil-treatment criterion is below 100 ppt TEQ. This is a project target, not an achieved analytical result; commissioning and subsequent treatment verification are pending.

05

Documented outcomes

Planned volume
111,170 m³
Result
Pending commissioning. Objective is the site returned to safe future use

Remediation Strategy Navigator

Start from a site like this one

Run the same diagnostic our engineers ran here. Five questions on contaminant, matrix, site context, driver, and scale, and the Strategy Navigator shows which treatment path your conditions point toward.

· A shortlist of treatment paths ranked against your answers

· The reasoning behind every technology that surfaces

· A shareable link that reopens the same strategy

· A downloadable strategy brief at the end
