Nelson at RPIC 2026 | Ottawa | October 27–29
Complex sites demand more than a standard remediation approach.
Nelson Environmental Remediation brings more than three decades of field experience, mobile thermal technologies and integrated in-situ capabilities to contaminated sites across Canada and around the world.
Meet Nelson at the 2026 RPIC National Summit in Ottawa and explore technologies designed for difficult contaminants, demanding environments and long-term environmental outcomes.

Federal contaminated sites
Federal contaminated sites can present difficult combinations of contaminants, geology, infrastructure, access constraints and long-term environmental obligations.
Nelson approaches those challenges through multiple remediation platforms rather than a single technology.
Our capabilities span mobile direct-fired and indirect thermal treatment, high-resolution site characterization, in-situ remediation and industrial water treatment, allowing solutions to be developed around site conditions and remediation objectives.
PFAS
PFAS has become one of the world’s most persistent environmental challenges.
Nelson’s Edmonton facility was selected by the NATO Science & Technology Organization as an international test bed for evaluating thermal technology addressing PFAS forever chemicals.
The work builds on decades of Nelson experience designing and operating thermal systems for complex contaminated materials and difficult remediation environments.
Tioga, North Dakota
Approximately 1.2 million tonnes of Bakken crude-impacted soil thermally treated on site and returned to agricultural production.
Eastern Canada
Approximately 80,000 tonnes of oil-impacted mill scale treated through indirect thermal desorption, recovering oil for reuse and returning ferrous material to production.
Global deployment
Nelson’s thermal systems are engineered for deployment to sites where transportation, scale, contamination or project conditions make conventional approaches difficult.
More than thermal
Not every contaminated site should be excavated, and not every environmental problem requires thermal treatment. Nelson In-Situ expands the remediation toolkit with high-resolution site characterization, in-situ treatment technologies and industrial water treatment capabilities.
Technologies including UVOST® LIF and MiHPT help define subsurface contamination and support more targeted remediation decisions.
Solutions include MPE, SVE, air sparging, thermal enhancement and chemical or biological amendments selected around site conditions.
Engineered approaches for contaminated groundwater, process water and complex industrial water challenges.
Resource recovery
Some contaminated materials and industrial residuals contain recoverable resources. Nelson’s Resource Recovery approach looks beyond contaminant destruction to determine whether treatment can also recover hydrocarbons, preserve useful material or enable approved reuse.

Separate usable hydrocarbons for approved reuse.
Recover oil while preserving iron-rich solids for production.
Develop feed-specific treatment and recovery routes around the material.

Company to showcase thermal remediation, advanced site characterization and in-situ treatment capabilities at RPIC National Summit, October 27-29
OTTAWA, ON, October 21, 2026. Nelson Environmental Remediation, a leading Canadian environmental remediation company, will showcase its capabilities for addressing complex contaminated sites at the 2026 RPIC National Summit in Ottawa, October 27–29.
The Summit brings together leaders and technical professionals from across Canada.
Canada’s federal government continues to identify, assess and remediate contaminated properties across the country, addressing environmental liabilities accumulated over decades while preparing for emerging challenges.
Nelson will exhibit technologies spanning mobile thermal remediation, high-resolution site characterization, in-situ remediation and industrial water treatment. The company is also advancing research and development into treatment solutions for persistent PFAS contamination in a project with NATO STO (Science and Technology Organization).
“Canada has an enormous range of contaminated-site challenges, from petroleum hydrocarbons and legacy industrial contamination to PFAS,” said Warren Nelson, CEO of Nelson Environmental Remediation. “There isn’t one technology that solves every site. The important thing is having the experience and range of tools to build the right solutions around complex problems. As a Canadian company, Nelson is equipped for these global challenges.”
For more than three decades, Nelson has deployed remediation solutions to contaminated sites in Canada and internationally. It now deploys the world’s largest mobile thermal remediation fleet.
The company’s experience includes large-scale contaminated-soil projects, direct-fired and indirect thermal treatment, and applications in which remediation can also enable recycling or resource recovery in the energy, mining and automotive sectors.
Nelson has also expanded its below-ground capabilities, combining high-resolution site characterization with technologies including multi-phase extraction, soil vapour extraction, air sparging, thermal enhancement and chemical and biological amendments, along with industrial water treatment.
Nelson representatives will be available throughout the RPIC National Summit to discuss federal contaminated sites, thermal remediation, in-situ treatment, water treatment and complex environmental projects.
The 2026 RPIC National Summit takes place October 27–29 in Ottawa.
